Olympus to offer precisExcite® LED light-source
"An exciting step forward as LED technology replaces bulbs in microscopes" - Jim Beacher.
Recognising the inherent stability and control of precisExcite®,
Olympus Life & Material Science Europe (OLME) and CoolLED, the makers
of precisExcite®, have agreed that Olympus will offer the precisExcite®
LED light-source with their fluorescence microscopes in Europe.
Following product evaluation at their European headquarters in Hamburg,
Olympus identified the benefits and potential of precisExcite® to provide
stable, homogeneous control of fluorescence excitation. Applications
such as Confocal, time-lapse and live cell imaging all benefit from
the high level of control from precisExcite®.
precisExcite® is a modular LED light source where the user can select
the wavelength of excitation and control the intensity & period of excitation
very precisely. As new wavelengths are required, and intensity of LEDs
continues, additional LED Array Modules (LAM®s) can be added and interchanged
in the unit.
Commenting on the new agreement, Jim Beacher of CoolLED stated that,
"We are very pleased that Olympus has made this decision. The inherent
stability of precisExcite is a benefit which their microscope users
will appreciate. In addition, there are no bulbs to replace so the cost-of-ownership
is correspondingly low."
