Software Interfaces
When integrating an LED design within an overall product, establishing suitable software interfaces is essential. Most product controls use digital micro-controllers so there is an additional requirement for LED sub-assemblies being integrated into these.
Many CoolLED designs also include micro-controllers which are provided with digital interfaces to allow remote control from the main product's controllers. CoolLED's engineers write interface software to enable this remote control to take place. Interfaces such as RS232, USB and Ethernet are commonly used.
In fact, many products require embedded control computer or PC-based application software. CoolLED designs often incorporate micro-controllers or micro-computers to manage operation, temperature and safety aspects. These control interfaces are typically via RS232, USB or TCP/IP, but may also use other methods including optical or radio links. User interfaces are usually for Windows® but can also be from other operating systems.
